In the web design industry when referring to a cache we are more often than not talking about the browser cache. It takes time and local computer resources to download images and data off of a web server to display a web page properly. In an effort to make pages load quicker, a browser may store data from previously visited websites in a cache which serves as a temporary storage facility. Often a web designer performs an update to a web page and the client will visit the page and not immediately be able to view the updates because the browser displays a cached page (an older version). To force the browser to download the most current data, a designer will request that the client refresh or reload the page.
